TAMPA, Fla. | January 24, 2026 — The FBI Tampa Citizens Academy Alumni Association (FBITCAAA) proudly participated in the annual Gasparilla Children’s Parade along Bayshore Boulevard, joining thousands of families and community partners in one of the nation’s largest youth parades.

The parade, known for its festive pirate theme and family atmosphere, drew an estimated 150,000 spectators to Tampa’s scenic Bayshore Boulevard. Featuring more than 125 colorful floats and groups, the event celebrated community, youth engagement, and Tampa’s vibrant culture, continuing a proud Gasparilla tradition.

Nearly 70 participants, including members of FBITCAAA, personnel from the Tampa Field Office, and several dedicated community supporters, marched along the parade route. The group proudly represented the organization with three vehicles stocked with beads and American flags, distributing smiles, spirit, and community pride to paradegoers.

A big highlight of the day was the involvement of Special Agent in Charge Matthew Fodor, whose presence underscored the FBI’s commitment to community outreach and partnership. SAC Fodor walked alongside alumni and families, helping distribute beads and connect with the Tampa Bay community. His ongoing support, together with that of Community Outreach Specialist Betsy Conley, continues to elevate the Tampa Chapter as a national Gold Star standout.

FBITCAAA President Daniel Sallade reflected on the success of the event, sharing, “Our presence at the Gasparilla Children’s Parade is about more than just tossing beads. It’s about showing our community that we care, we’re engaged, and we’re here to build relationships that last. I couldn’t be prouder of our team and the energy they brought to this event.”

Vice President Tanya Cielo added, “Gasparilla gives us a unique chance to celebrate our city’s traditions while also building genuine connections between the FBI, alumni, and the families we serve. It’s a reminder that community engagement isn’t just important—it’s essential.”

The smooth coordination of FBITCAAA’s participation was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Betsy Conley and Committee Chair Cara Riley, who noted, “It was truly inspiring to see so many families lining Bayshore, and to be part of an event where law enforcement and community walk side by side. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do — building trust, sharing joy, and showing up together.”

FBITCAAA also extends deep appreciation to the Florida Firearms Academy for sponsoring the purchase of beads. Their continued support remains instrumental in empowering the organization’s outreach efforts and enhancing visibility throughout Tampa Bay.

As Tampa Bay moves forward in 2026, FBITCAAA remains committed to fostering meaningful engagement, strengthening relationships, and supporting events that unite the community in positive and impactful ways.

A Night of Mystery, Merriment, and Mission at the Historic Tampa Firefighters Museum

On December 17th, the historic Tampa Firefighters Museum transformed into a festive 1920s-themed holiday speakeasy for the 11th Annual Jingle & Mingle, hosted by the FBI Tampa Citizens Academy Alumni Association. FBI Tampa Citizens Academy Alumni Association Donates “Hope Bags” to Support Children Recovered During Multi-Agency Rescue Operation

TAMPA, FL — 11/17/25 — The FBI Tampa Citizens Academy Alumni Association (FBITCAAA) proudly supported a recent multi-agency child-recovery operation by donating specially-prepared “Hope Bags” to the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) and the Florida Department of Children & Families (DCF). These bags were provided directly to children rescued during the extensive coordinated effort.

The operation—led by the U.S. Marshals Service in partnership with federal, state, and local law enforcement—resulted in the recovery of more than 100 missing or endangered children across several states. Many of these young victims were in urgent need of clothing, comfort items, and essential personal care products when they were found.

To help meet those immediate needs, the FBITCAAA assembled Hope Bags containing new outfits, undergarments, toiletries, hairbrushes, lotion, stuffed animals, and other age-appropriate comfort items. Each bag was designed to offer warmth, dignity, and reassurance during what is often a frightening and uncertain moment for a child transitioning into protective care.

“Our alumni were honored to support this lifesaving operation,” said Jacques Hakim, President of the FBITCAAA. “When a child is rescued, they deserve to feel safe and cared for right away. These Hope Bags provide a small but meaningful sense of comfort during a critical moment in their recovery.”

Board Member Cara Riley, who helped lead the coordination effort, added:

“We wanted every child to receive not just essentials, but something soft to hold, something warm to wear, and something that reminds them they matter. Partnering with the U.S. Marshals Service and DCF allowed us to get these items into the hands of children who needed them most.”

The donation exemplifies the FBITCAAA’s longstanding commitment to supporting public-safety initiatives, strengthening community partnerships, and assisting agencies dedicated to protecting vulnerable populations across the Tampa Bay region.

“We are grateful for the extraordinary work of the U.S. Marshals Service, DCF, and all the law enforcement professionals involved,” Hakim said. “Their dedication inspires us to continue serving wherever we can make a difference.”

The FBITCAAA remains committed to supporting victim services, community outreach, and law enforcement initiatives throughout Tampa Bay and beyond.

The FBI Tampa Citizens Academy Alumni Association (FBITCAAA) brought holiday spirit to the height of summer with its Christmas in July toy drive, proving that the season of giving knows no calendar. This heartwarming community effort collected toys for hospitalized, abused, and neglected children across Tampa Bay, and thanks to the generosity of our community, we didn’t just meet our goal… we shattered it.

    A Record-Breaking Toy Collection

With a goal of 5,000 toys, the FBITCAAA rallied friends, family, and local supporters to fill toy treasure chests used year-round in hospitals, advocacy centers, and child protection services. The result? A mountain of donated toys, surpassing expectations and ensuring thousands of moments of joy for children in need.

    Where the Magic Went

    The toys were hand-delivered to:

    • Mary Lee’s House

    • St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Foundation

    • Pasco Kids First

    • Advent Health Tampa

    • Tampa General Hospital

    • Child Protection Services

Each delivery was met with smiles, gratitude, and the promise that these toys will brighten the days of children facing medical challenges, abuse recovery, and difficult family transitions.

    Community Spirit in Action

“This drive shows the power of our Tampa Bay community,” said Jacques Hakim, FBITCAAA President. “When we come together for a shared cause, the impact is truly magical.”

Volunteers — some donning Santa hats in the July heat — helped sort, pack, and distribute the toys. For many, it was a reminder that kindness is the gift that keeps on giving.

    The Impact Beyond the Holidays

The toys collected will be distributed throughout the year, ensuring that every child who enters these facilities can experience a moment of joy and comfort. From a stuffed animal to hold during a hospital stay, to games that bring laughter in times of uncertainty, each toy is a small piece of hope.

    Looking Ahead
