About the programEach member of the FBI Tampa Citizens Academy Alumni Association is a graduate of an eight-week FBI Tampa Citizens Academy curriculum which focuses on federal law enforcement issues and challenges. Graduates of the curriculum are eligible for participation in the FBI Tampa Citizens Academy Alumni organization. That network of alumni meets periodically to update graduates on federal law enforcement issues and provide education on state and local law enforcement matters. |
What is the Citizens Academy?The Citizen Academy is an engaging six-to-eight-week program that gives business, religious, civic and community leaders an inside look at the FBI. Classes are held in the evening annually at the Tampa Field Office, along with an annual class taking place at one of the eight resident agencies. The mission of the FBI Citizens Academy is to foster a greater understanding of the role of federal law enforcement in the community through frank discussion and education. Candidates can be nominated by FBI employees, former Citizen Academy graduates and community leaders. Participants are selected by the special agent in charge (SAC) of the Tampa Field Office. | Why Join?You will assist in promoting a safer community through community service projects and educating business, media, medical, minority, religious, senior citizens, and other community leaders about law enforcement, with particular emphasis on the mission and resources of the FBI.
